Jeff Stone

Jeff comes to Bear-Code with a strong background in both bio-medical research and computer science. Prior to receiving his Master of Science in Computer Science, Jeff spent over 10 years in immunological research at National Jewish Center for Immunology and Medical Research in Denver and the University of Vermont. His Master thesis focused on utilizing and improving upon the National Library of Medicine's Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) for data mining applications.

After finishing his thesis, Jeff helped Fletcher Allen Health Care in the development of a web based birth delivery registry that records data on maternal and fetal risk factors, interventions, and outcomes amounting to approximately 800 items altogether. One of Jeff's responsibilities on this project was creating the XML Schemas and designing the data extraction and transfer to the Vermont Department of Health via ebXML messaging.

Other projects that Jeff has worked on involve computer security and risk assessment, disaster recover, HIPAA security audits, content management systems, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems, and web design.

When Jeff is not at the computer, you can usually find him either out on the water or on the mountain. Jeff is an avid windsurfer, telemark skier and rock climber
