Bear Code Signature
Mission statements, cost structures and methodologies are all important criteria for choosing application development partners. There is one very important criterion that is hard to evaluate but might be the most important criterion of all... What is it like to work with the partner on a daily basis?
At Bear Code we believe that most people want to be working with dynamic motivated teams, and we believe we fit this description. As Managing Partner of Bear Code, Michael Howe has attracted talent with the same motivation and work spirit as himself.
The defining characteristics of this spirit are:
Offline Thinking, Functional Competition, and Shared Responsibility.
Offline Thinking
Bear Coders are not bound by the 9-5 world in any sense of the word. Bear Coders are always solving problems. We realize that great ideas and solutions do not always come out of a play-dough tube on command. There is often a gestation period. It is not uncommon for a Bear Coder to come to work excited to implement a solution that has come to them overnight.
Functional Competition
Competition can be productive even within a team. Bear Code nurtures a competition of ideas that promotes robust solutions to the problems we face each day. Since Bear Code hires intellectual equals who are treated as such, everyone has something of unique value to contribute, and this is recognized by the whole. The Bear Code milieu promotes developing great ideas over winning personal battles.
Shared Responsibility
Rarely will you hear a Bear Coder say "that is not my job". Our first responsibility is to our clients and each other, not our jobs per se. Bear Coders have their unique expertise, but we also share the primary instinct to help our clients and each other. Tasks get handed off when it is really in the best interest of the client to do so, not when it is expedient.
